Man Reading the Paper, Florence
Walking a back street in Florence one morning while looking for interesting doorways to photograph I took a left down a small alley, took a couple steps in, glanced one way, then the other and saw nothing of interest. I turned around, anxious to carry on looking since any time in Italy is never enough and framed perfectly out the exit to the small alley was this scene. I thought instantly how most of my trip thus far consisted of land and urban shots of a country so beautifully constructed in every way, but much of my photography was void of human interaction. Until this moment, that is. This scene changed the way I approached the rest of my stay and I took extra time to not forget the human element in my photographs of Italy.
