It Just Is
Edwin Decker is one of my favorite artists. He writes freelance and is a performance artist. His writing has appeared in, to name a few, The San Diego Union Tribune, San Diego Reader, Modern Drunkard Magazine, Seattle Stranger, Tucson Weekly, Creative Loafing (in Atlanta), Cleveland Scene and his mothership magazine San Diego CityBeat. His column Sordid Tales of a Bartender in Heat was something I looked forward to reading each and every week as it was not only humorous and controversial, but often times he hits the nail right where it needs to be struck, which can often times piss some sensitive people off.
When Edwin asked me to contribute my illustration work to his award winning book Barzilla and other psalms, I jumped at such an extraordinary opportunity. This is the illustration that accompanied the following selection from the book.
It Just Is
Grieve not death any more than:
The tulip grieves the mite
The ocean grieves the moon
The river grieves the bridge
The later grieves the soon.
Grieve not death any more than:
The candle grieves the breeze
The gentle grieves the stern
The tree grieves the nail
The Peach grieves the worm.
